Frequently Asked Questions

When is Storyland?

Storyland is held on Saturday 20th May 2023.

Gates open at 12:30pm and close at 11pm.

Where is Storyland held?

Storyland is located at Park Beach Reserve, right on the pristine Coffs Creek, with views to Mutton Bird Island. It’s a pretty spectacular spot. The entrance to the venue is on Ocean Parade. There will be road closures in place on Ocean Parade – please see additional information below about getting to Storyland.

How do I get to Storyland?

We recommend utilising public transport, rideshares, taxis, walking, or riding your bike to the venue as there is limited parking in and around the venue.

There will be road closures on Ocean Parade from Fitzgerald Street (near the Park Beach Holiday Park entrance) to Orlando Street (where the railway bridge over the creek is). Only accredited vehicles will be allowed to drive through the traffic control checkpoints. If driving, consider parking at the Jetty Foreshores nearby and walking to the event, and please be considerate of our neighbours when leaving the venue. Don’t be a goose and drink and drive – have a Plan B.

Accessible Parking will be available close to the venue. Please contact the Storyland team if you are a Mobility Parking Permit holder and we will send you information for your arrival. We can be contacted via contact@screenwave.com.au or (02) 5626 5051.

I am not from Coffs where should I stay?

If you’re travelling from outside of Coffs (or just want a cheeky night in town) HERE are some of our suggestions of places to stay and eat (before and after Storyland of course).

Can I camp overnight?

STORYLAND is a one-day event, there is no camping on site and camping is prohibited on adjacent public land. Check out some great places to stay (including camping) above.

How do I buy tickets?

Tickets are sold via our ticketing partner Ferve (available here). Tickets are subject to the Terms and Conditions as set out below. Tickets can be purchased on the day, at the gate – eftpos only.

Can I bring the whole family?

Only if your family are 18 and over. Storyland is an 18+ event. Babysitters are great.

What if I can’t come anymore, can I get a refund or give my ticket to someone else?

Once you buy your ticket from Storyland, there are no refunds – it’s yours. If you’d like to resell your ticket to someone else, there are ticket re-selling services out there which can be a little safer than selling directly through social media. Just remember, re-selling your ticket is solely up to you. Digital tickets can only be scanned for entry once, so be sure to do your research.

Do you provide companion card tickets?

Yeah, totally. Come one, come all! If you have a Companion Card, buy your Storyland ticket, bring your Companion Card to Storyland, and show it with your ticket at the front gate (with your Companion). We will allow entry to your Companion. If you are a wheelchair user, just a heads up that most of Storyland takes place on grass. Check out below about Accessibility at Storyland.

Who is playing?

Storyland is a bonafide assembly of Australia’s hottest music acts. Here’s the line-up.

Can I buy food and drinks?

Yes! Storyland has a whole Food Village where you can grab a bite to eat and either sit amongst our [Movie] Trailer Park installation or take it with you to go watch your favourite band play.

The main bar is adjacent to the main stage, where you can grab a drink. As the whole venue is licensed and it’s an 18+ event, you can walk around like you own the place and take your drink with you while soaking in the festival vibes. We also have non-alcoholic drinks for those who choose.

Cash vs Card-only sales are at the discretion of each vendor. Ticketing and merch are cashless – be sure to bring your Eftpos card.

Please bring a re-usable empty water bottle (no glass or ceramic) as free drinking water will be available at re-fill stations located around the venue. Food vendors will not be selling water in plastic bottles. Free water is also available at all bars.

What should I bring with me?

  • Ticket
  • Photo ID – it’s an 18+ event
  • Debit/Credit card or electronic means to pay for food and drinks and/or merch
  • Empty re-usable water bottle (no glass or ceramic) for water refills
  • Hat, sunscreen, raincoat
  • Fully charged phone
  • Bag should only be as big as an A4 piece of paper
  • Your dancing shoes
  • Good vibes

What if the weather is crazy?

The plan is to go ahead with the event, rain or shine. If the site or the event become unsafe due to weather, we will postpone the event, notify all ticket holders, and roll all tickets to a new date (like we did in 2022). There are covered areas on site for rain and sun protection though, and word is 2023 is going to be a heck of a lot drier, so come ready to party.

Is the venue accessible?

The festival site is mostly level ground, with some concrete paths as well. There is a small sloping grassy hill to get down from the entrance. Storyland also has accessible toilets. We are super keen for you to come and have an absolute ripper of a time, so reach out to us ahead of time (or even on the day).

Will there be First Aid at the venue?

You betcha! On-site medical assistance is available to anyone that needs it. Find the medical team right by the front gates. Party safe, Wayne! Party safe, Garth.

Do I need to wear a wristband?

Yes, you will be issued a coloured wristband upon entry into the venue (it looks cool, designed by fashion icon and film costume designer Jean Paul Gaultier or Saige from the Storyland team – definitely one of those two). You need to keep your wristband on and display to event staff, security or volunteers upon request.

If you have exceptional circumstances that requires you to remove or not wear a wristband you must organise this with the Front Gate Manager on entry or prior to removing your wristband.

Are there Pass Outs?

Storyland will only be issuing Pass Outs at the discretion of the Organisers.

Can I buy merchandise?

Yes, the Merchandise tent will be located by the Main Bar, and is where you can buy cool stuff from your favourite acts or an official Storyland stubby holder.

Can I smoke or vape at the event?

You can, but we ask that you only do this in the dedicated smoking area, near the north east border of the venue. Strictly no smoking or vaping in under cover areas or near dining areas – and please be excellent to each other and the environment by binning your butts!

What is the plan for waste?

We operate a ‘Leave No Trace’ policy at Storyland. Please put all your rubbish in the correct bins provided – this makes recycling easier. Our volunteers do a great job of helping to manage recycling – but let’s all chip in. One Earth and all that, ya dig?

Is there somewhere to report or collect lost property?

Yes, the Information Booth will be located with the Merch Tent, near the main bar, and is where lost property can be handed in or reported or collected if found.

What is not allowed to come into the venue?

  • Marquees or shade tents – we have you covered

Will the event be run in a Covid-safe way?

  • Yes, we like to run events that are not only Covid-safe but safe in general. We will be monitoring and following any restrictions or guidelines as set out by the government and our venue partners. If you don’t feel safe at any time at the event, please speak to one of our event staff, volunteers or security that will be located all around the venue.

Can I Volunteer at STORYLAND?

Yes, we love our Volunteers, without them we can’t make all the magic happen. Please email contact@screenwave.com.au with the subject heading “Volunteer at Storyland” and we will get in touch with you.

What if I have more questions, not answered here?

Prior to the event you can get in contact via email at contact@screenwave.com.au or phone us on (02) 5626 5051 between 10am-4pm Tuesday-Friday.

During the event we will have an Information Booth on site that you can ask questions or get assistance if you need any help. You can also have your fortune told, but it’ll mainly just be someone enabling your pre-existing beliefs.

Terms & Conditions

STORYLAND IS AN 18+ ONLY EVENT. VALID PHOTO ID REQUIRED FOR ENTRY AND TO PURCHASE AND/OR CONSUME ALCOHOL.

This ticket is sold or provided on the express condition that the holder (“Ticketholder”/ “Attendee”) is bound by the rules & conditions issued by Screenwave Australia Pty Ltd (“the Organiser”). Ticketholders/Attendees agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions contained herein and on the Storyland website. Basically, when you buy a ticket, there are a few little rules to follow.

A Storyland ticket permits an attendee entry to Storyland 2023 (the “Event”) held at Park Beach Reserve (the “Venue”), on Saturday 20th May, 2023.

  1. Ticketholders & all Attendees MUST show valid Photo ID at the Event entrance gate and be 18 years or older to be allowed entry.

  2. It is a condition of purchase that the Ticketholder consents to the Organiser collecting and retaining their personal information. The Organiser will hold your information as required by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). The Organiser will contact you in relation to ticketing matters and Event information. We won’t sell your information on to anyone else – it’s weird that we have to say that these days, but just for peace of mind.

  3. No refunds will be provided on tickets except as required by law &/or as specified by the Live Performance Australia Ticketing Code of Practice. Incorrect purchases DO NOT qualify for a refund or exchange. Before buying a ticket, double check what you’re buying.

  4. The Organiser reserves the right to enforce published ticket purchase limits and cancel any tickets obtained above said limits by any one customer.

  5. If you are denied entry to or removed from the Venue or the Event, you will not be entitled to any ticket refund in part or in full and/or any compensation, unless required by law.

  6. Ticket barcodes are unique to each ticket. Do not share your ticket barcode with anyone else or you may be denied entry to the Event. The Organiser reserves the right to deny admission to the holder of any ticket that appears to have been tampered with, counterfeited, duplicated, or previously scanned for entry.

  7. Upon entry to the Event/Venue, your ticket will be exchanged for a wristband that you MUST keep on for the duration of the Event. Lost, damaged, or stolen wristbands will not be replaced. If you have exceptional circumstances that requires you to remove or not wear a wristband you must organise this with the Front Gate Manager on entry or prior to removing your wristband.

  8. Anyone entering the Venue or found onsite at the Event without a valid wristband, will be removed from the Venue.

  9. The entire Venue is a licensed area. Attendees wishing to purchase and/or consume alcohol must be 18 years old or over, and have valid photographic ID.

  10. Alcohol cannot be brought into the Venue or removed from the Venue. Any alcohol brought into the Venue will be confiscated. You wouldn’t bring alcohol into a licensed pub – the same counts for Storyland.

  11. Bags, and other personal items will be searched at the entry to the Venue to check for any banned items. Banned items include:

  • Marquees or shade tents – we have you covered

  • BYO Alcohol – due to our liquor licence no alcohol is allowed to be brought in or taken out of the venue.

  4. Footwear must be worn at all times throughout the Event site.

  5. Small still cameras are permitted but professional audio or video recording devices, including GoPros, DSLRs, and professional still or video cameras are prohibited. Attendees are not permitted to record the Event (audio or video) for commercial purposes.

  8. The Organiser reserves the right to refuse a Ticketholder/Attendee admission to the Venue and the Event and/or to evict any person from the Venue and the Event if they are intoxicated by alcohol and/or affected by illicit drugs, or act in contravention of any of these Terms and Conditions.

  9. Activities such as moshing, crowd surfing, climbing and stage diving are strictly prohibited. Attendees engaging in these, or other dangerous activities will be removed from the Event and/or Venue, and Attendees accept all risk and liability for any injuries or damages caused by these activities. Entry to the Venue is at the Attendee’s own risk. Stay safe while having a boogie.

  10. The Organiser recommends that due to noise levels, ear plugs should be carried/worn by Attendees. Offensive language may be used by some performers and artists. Special effects and strobe lighting may be used at the Event.

  11. Attendees must not cause damage to, improperly use, or tamper with any Venue facility or Event infrastructure, or cause any damage to flora and fauna on or surrounding the Venue or enter any onsite bodies of water at the Venue. Attendees must not remove or attempt to remove any item or object from the Venue or surrounding area. Attendees accept full liability and responsibility for any loss or damage caused in contravention of this clause or any other term of these Terms and Conditions. By touching event infrastructure, you could unknowingly be endangering the safety of yourself and those around you. Please don’t touch the equipment.

  12. Attendees may be removed from the Venue if, in the opinion of the Organiser, they behave or act in a threatening or inappropriate manner, including without limitation, any aggressive, riotous, abusive, offensive, racist, sexist or insulting actions towards other attendees, Event staff or any other persons at the Venue or the Event. Attendees are required to follow the reasonable directions of the Organiser and Event staff at all times.

  13. The Event will take place as long as the weather conditions prior to and including the event day allow for safe event conditions for all Attendees and the event team. Storyland will do its utmost to move ahead with the Event in adverse weather conditions (e.g. rain, wind), however Attendee and Event team safety is our first concern.

  14. The Organiser reserves the right to vary the Event program and/or to add, withdraw or substitute artists to the line-up and/or vary the Event date or Venue at its discretion. Unless required by applicable law (including the Australian Consumer Law), no ticket refunds or compensation will be made in such circumstances, or if the Event program varies due to the non-appearance of one or more advertised artists.

  15. The Organiser is not liable for any loss, injury, damage or compensation (including, without limitation, any travel costs, accommodation costs, out of pocket expenses), as a result of the Event being cancelled, postponed, relocated and/or changed for whatever reason. If the Event is cancelled in whole or in part by an act of God, extreme weather, act of war, act of terrorism, civil commotion, industrial dispute or for any event or threat outside of the control of the Organiser then any refunds shall be at the Organiser’s absolute discretion (unless otherwise required by law).

  16. Except where liability cannot be excluded by law, the Organiser (and its employees, contractors and agents) shall not be liable for any loss, cost, expense, injury, claim or damages suffered or sustained by any Ticketholders and Attendees at the Venue or the Event. Where permitted under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), the Organiser limits its liability in respect of breach of any statutory guarantee under the ACL in the manner set out in sections 64A(1)(a) and 64A(2)(a) of the ACL.

  17. To the full extent permitted by law, Attendees waive all legal rights of action against and fully release the Organiser, its Agents, Employees, and Volunteers for all claims for compensation for loss, damage, injury, or death howsoever arising out of or in relation to the Attendees entry to and presence at the Venue and their attendance at the Event.

  18. Attendees must use designated walkways and paths at all times whilst at the Event and the Venue, and must follow any Event or Venue directions or signage.

  19. In the occasion of injury or illness the Organiser may, at the cost of the Attendee, arrange medical treatment and/or emergency evacuation as deemed essential for the safety of the Attendee.

  20. Any provision of these Terms and Conditions which are or becomes unenforceable shall not invalidate the other provisions of these Terms and Conditions.
